Pet Boarding Services at Cats & Critters
When you go on vacation or a business trip and have to leave your pet behind, it can create a lot of stress for you and your pet. Pets are attached to their owners, and it is important that when you vacation, you leave them with someone that you trust. At Cats & Critters Veterinary Hospital you can trust us to treat your pet like a member of our own family.
Comfort, Fun, and Safety
Our boarding services are dedicated to making your pet’s stay comfortable and fun. Our guests will always have fresh and nutritious food and water, tailored to your desires, and will be granted ample time and space for exercise.
Your pet will also have his or her own special and comfortable place for rest when it is time for sleep. We offer dog-free cat boarding, and limited exotics boarding for rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets. If your own cage is provided we can also accommodate limited boarding for rats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, and other exotics.
New environments can be stressful for cats and may lead to decreased appetite. To ensure we are providing the best care for your cat, we may need to provide appetite-increasing medications and/or anti-anxiety medications. If you do not have anti-anxiety medication coming with your pet, we may need to do an exam on your cat to prescribe these medications, which would be added to your invoice. We highly recommend anti-anxiety medications for your pet’s boarding stay.
To ensure the safety and health of all our guests, we require that each pet we board has been seen by a veterinarian within the past year, as well as current vaccinations. We cannot make a reservation for a pet until we are provided with documentation indicating the pet is up to date on their required vaccinations and their annual exam.
If your pet is found to have fleas, we will treat the problem at the owner’s expense to ensure that the facility does not become contaminated. We can also provide routine parasite control if your pet is scheduled for a treatment. Just let us know when your pet arrives.
For any exotic boarders we require doctor approval before a reservation can be finalized. Owners must provide their own fresh vegetables and food for their exotics as we do not routinely stock those in hospital. We recommend ferret owners bring their own food from home, as most of our ferret boarders do not adjust to quick dietary changes.
VACCINATIONS MUST BE CURRENT for boarding any cats or ferrets.
- For cats: rabies and FVRCP
- For ferrets: rabies and distemper
At this time, we can no longer board any pets that are on controlled medications. We also cannot board any diabetic pets due to limited medical staff during the weekends should your pet require medical intervention/monitoring. We recommend if you have a diabetic cat to contact Pittsford Animal Hospital for boarding needs since they have medical staff available Saturday evenings and Sundays.
All medications for use during your pet’s stay must arrive in original packaging or we cannot administer them to your pet. Any dispensed or administered medication during your pet’s stay will be added to your invoice.
If your pet becomes ill, we will make every attempt to contact you and/or your emergency contact at the numbers provided. If the situation is life-threatening and time does not allow prior notification, we will treat it accordingly. If the situation appears serious enough, your pet will be taken to Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Services at 825 White Spruce Blvd, Rochester for 24-hour care. If there are limitations to the care you wish us to provide for your pet, please communicate that to us before you leave your pet with us.
