Joanne Hach, DVM
Dr. Hach's Bio
Dr. Joanne Hach is the hospital director at Cats & Critters Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Hach has cared for patients at Cats & Critters since 2002.
A native of Randolph, NJ, Dr. Hach attended Bucknell University and received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Following her undergraduate studies, she completed a master’s degree program in biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to attend the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Hach is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Hach works to incorporate gentle handling and a quiet approach to help reduce patient stress in the exam room and during hospital visits. She has dedicated her time to developing interests and skills in feline medicine and dentistry. In addition, she has many years of medical and surgical experience with a range of small mammal species. Her focus is on client education and patient care to help improve and maintain patient quality of life from birth to young adult to senior years.
Dr. Hach shares her home with her husband, daughter, and son. They enjoy spending time with their three cats, Thunder, Monarch, and Cheddar. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, gardening, reading, and helping support her children’s sports teams.
Jason Sifkarovski, DVM
Dr. Sifkarovski's Bio
Dr. Jason Sifkarovski grew up in Irondequoit, NY. He began his career at the Animal Hospital of Pittsford, where he was a kennel attendant for two years. Dr. Sifkarovsi attended Cornell University, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in animal science and natural resources. He then obtained a master’s degree in microbiology and immunology. Dr. Sifkarovski then attended veterinary school, earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University.
Prior to graduation he completed externships at the Buffalo Zoo and the New England Aquarium. He has also spent time volunteering at the Seneca Park Zoo, AQUAVET, Swanson Wildlife Health Center, and with the organization FARVets. Dr. Sifkarovski has special interests in caring for exotic and aquatic species in addition to dogs and cats.
Dr. Sifkarvoski shares his home with his cat, Molly. In his free time, he enjoys music, sports (football, basketball, and soccer), and traveling.
Zachia J. Gray, DVM
Dr. Gray's Bio
She was drawn to Cats & Critters because she has always enjoyed working with more exotic pets. They are all different, with different personalities and different challenges. Then, there’s cats – small packages with big energy. The combination is absolutely magical!
At home, Dr. Gray has three fur babies – Levi and Jewelie who are Black Labs, and Penny who is a Guinea Pig. You will find Dr. Gray enjoying hikes, playing trivia with her grandmother via Zoom, cooking and trying new recipes with her partner, and taste-testing the lovely Finger Lakes wine in her free time!

Gina has worked in the animal care industry for the past 5 years and joined our team as our Hospital Manager in November 2020! She was born and raised right here in Rochester, NY. She attended SUNY-ESF where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Science.
Gina’s favorite part of joining the Cats & Critters team has been being surrounded by coworkers that show the utmost care with their client and patient relationships. She finds being able to learn from such a wonderful team has been extremely rewarding. She also enjoys being able to see the different critter patients and expanding her knowledge of their care.
At home, Gina has a black cat named Luna and a cattle dog mix named Evie. She considers herself a homebody so she loves film, reading, baking, and occasional gaming. When she’s not at home, you will find her hiking with her boyfriend and Evie or spending time with friends and family!
Gwen Rivers is a full-time veterinary technician at Cats & Critters. She was born in Waterville, Maine, and raised in Belfast, Maine, and Lake George. She has been working with animals for more than 20 years. Gwen achieved her associate’s degree in veterinary technology from SUNY University at Delhi, as well as a certificate in small business management.
She says that her favorite part of work is seeing a variety of species and her relationship with her coworkers. Gwen owns two Pitbulls and three cats. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, bass fishing, and hiking. She is happily married to her husband, Ken, with two daughters.
Client Experience Supervisor
Shannon Pascale is a full-time client experience supervisor at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and has been working with animals since 2012.
She says that her favorite part of work is the clients she interacts with and their feline and exotic friends. Shannon owns a Pit Bull named Radar and a fish. In her free time, she enjoys reading, camping, cooking, and traveling. She also volunteers for Rescue Pit and Meals for Mutts, and dog-walks and pet-sits in her free time. She is happily married to her husband, Andrew.
Ariel Franklin is a full-time licensed veterinary technician at Cats & Critters. Ariel was born in Springville, New York, and raised in Pike, New York. She has been working with animals since she was 15 years old. Ariel holds an associate’s degree as well as her veterinary technician license.
Ariel’s favorite part of working at Cats & Critters is the welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. She says that it is unlike any other hospital that she’s worked at and that the patients and employees leave happy. Although, she says to honestly sum up her favorite part of working here is “ferrets, ferrets, all of the ferrets!”
Ariel has many pets, including her Chihuahuas (Dibbs and French Fry), her ferrets (Lurch, Thing, Morticia, and Fester), her four cats (April, Junebug, Deuce, and Wednesday), her chickens, rabbits, turtles, and her quail! She spends her free time hiking with her dogs and quilting.
Cyndi Guillaume is a full-time veterinary technician at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Webster, NY, and has been working with animals for the majority of her life. Cyndi achieved an associate’s degree in veterinary technology from SUNY University at Delhi before earning her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cornell University.
She says that her favorite part of work is working with the cats and different exotic animals that they see. Cyndi owns two Australian Shepards named Theo and Max, two cats named Tigger and Buzz, and one dwarf bunny named Juliet. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking with her family, husband, and dogs. She has three grown children and two grandchildren who she also enjoys having relaxing fires in her backyard!
Jessica grew up in Skaneateles, NY before making her way over to our team! She received both her associate’s degree in applied science in veterinary technology and her veterinary technician license from Medaille College. She also has a bachelor’s degree in natural resources management from SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry.
Her favorite part of working at our hospital is getting to be around cats all day! She has also enjoyed learning about all the small critters that come into our hospital for care.
At home, she has three cats of her own: Quentin, Ulfgar, and Raven. You will find her hiking, knitting, or quilting in her spare time.
Animal Care Assistant
Carol Bartlett is a full-time animal care assistant at Cats & Critters. Carol was born in Maryland and grew up in New Hampshire. She has been working with animals since September 2017.
Carol’s favorite part of her job is the passion exuded by her coworkers towards their work and the positive impact her job has on the lives of both her and animals. She owns three cats named Olivia, Michio, and Finn. In Carol’s free time, she enjoys figure skating, drawing comics, and taking her cat, Finn, on walks.
Cory Jedrewski is a full-time animal care assistant at Cats & Critters. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and has been working with animals since 2012.
She says that her favorite part of working is assisting in surgery and caring for the wide variety of small animals we see. Cory owns a cat named Jack and two bunnies named Eggs and Benedict. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and enjoying live music.
Zoe was born and raised in Rochester, NY. She joined our Cats & Critters team in July 2019 as a full-time ACA and is becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician with us in 2021! She graduated from Medaille in 2021 with an associate’s degree in animal science and passed the VTNE that same summer. She is Fear Free certified and also has an associate’s degree in life science from MCC.
Just like the cats she works with, she enjoys the calm and collected atmosphere of our hospital. She looks forward to coming into work every day to spend time with her wonderful patients and coworkers!
At home, Zoe has three cats (Penny, Sylvie, and Jovi), a Bearded Dragon named Mambo, and a Black Labrador/Rottweiler mix named Vader. In her free time, Zoe is a huge foodie, so she loves to cook! She also enjoys tending to her many house plants. She has worked with animals big (horses) and small (hamsters) and everything in-between. She has a special place in her heart for reptiles and someday she hopes to work with wildlife and zoo animals.
Christine was born on a military base in Ceiba, Puerto Rico but was raised in Rochester, New York. She joined Monroe Veterinary Associates in May 2016 and joined our team at Cats & Critters in November 2018. Christine has an associate’s degree in psychology and agricultural technology. She is also Fear Free certified as of February 2018.
Christine enjoys being able to work with cats. She also liked learning more about exotics and being able to work with them, especially the rabbits!
Christine has several pets – a Lab mix named Denali, a Border Collie named Violet, 3 cats (George Cat, Enzo, and Hobbes), as well as her farm animals which include ducks, chickens, and turkeys. She enjoys training Violet for herding, tricks, and more! When she’s not training and taking care of her animals, you will find her taking care of her farm and gardening.
Client Service Representative
Borned and raised in Brockport, Samantha Black-Thornton is the newest addition to the Cats & Critters team. She is a client service representative.
Samantha loves being able to see and pet adorable animals, but what she didn’t realize was how amazing it would be to be surrounded by others who love animals as much as she does. She says that there is a camaraderie among animal people that is incredibly special, and she is grateful to be surrounded by it.
She has three cats: P.B. Fluff, Reginald, and Eugene Purrman (who looks suspiciously like Reginald). In her free time, Samantha enjoys drawing, painting, playing video games, and practicing guitar. However, most of her time is taken up with loving her very needy fur babies and her husband, Ethan.
Sophie was born in Rochester and grew up in Penfield, NY. She joined our Monroe group in May 2019 as a seasonal ACA when on break from college. She began working full-time in 2021 after she graduated and joined our Cats & Critters team in November 2021. Sophie has earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY-Oswego and has recently enrolled in the Pathway-sponsored Penn Foster Vet Tech program.
Sophie enjoys being hands-on with the patients and assisting with treatments. She loves seeing the entire care process from diagnosis to resolution of the problem, from start to finish.
Sophie has 2 domestic-shorthair cats at home, Moira and Ramona. In her free time, she loves playing music; she plays the violin, viola, and ukulele! When not making music she enjoys making art, reading, and playing video games.
